Taking into consideration sites that charge taxes vs others that don't in Canada

Hello. I live in Canada (Quebec to be more precise) and love GG.Deals. One thing I've noticed though is that it's not easy to tell when I see prices listed if the site selling the games charge taxes or not.

For example, at the moment, the Epic store has Spider-Man Remastered for 39.37$ CAD and they charge taxes, which comes up to a grand total of 45.25$. In comparison, GamersGate has the title for 41.99, but this is a price that already includes taxes, so it ends up being cheaper than buying from Epic. Since taxes calculations are a store-based attribute, perhaps taxes could automatically be calculated for sites that charge them, helping us Canadians figure out which price is actually cheaper 🙂

jackdewey Thanks for your feedback. In order to resolve this issue, we could really use some help from someone who lives in Canada.

We're gonna need a list of stores where our pricing is wrong and stores for which the tax is included.
How does this tax thing actually work? Is there a flat rate in Canada, or does the tax vary between different regions?

Indeed. I had not thought this through before I wrote this. The taxes do get complicated. In some provinces, you only pay one federal tax. In others, you have a provincial tax and a federal tax. The amount of federal tax changes based on whether the province has its own tax. To come up with a final price on all items, you would need users to not only select the country as Canada but also select their province.

But I could definitely go through and see which stores will add taxes and which ones have them pre-calculated. Then for Canadian prices, you could indicate Tax Included or Plus Taxes.

It's certainly confusing if we show prices with a tax for some stores and prices without the tax for other stores. It makes the comparison flawed. I would appreciate your help in identifying stores where the tax is pre-calculated.

In terms of what we could do to make this right - the different tax rate in different provinces does sound complicated. The least we could do is to unify the prices so that they all work the same way. In the future, we can go back to this issue and build the province selector that modifies all Canadian prices depending on which province you're from.

I would also appreciate some kind of integration of taxes. I'm from germany and normally the shop prices include taxes.
In one shop I know that's not the case: www.instant-gaming.com
In this shop the german tax (19%) is added after the checkout. So all other shops on GG.deals have the taxes included, except of this one... This makes it hard to compare the prices...
