Alerts for keyshop prices

This website is amazing and I've been using it for a long time. The only thing I would love to see is to support alerts for keyshops too!

The difficulty of this is the number of small price changes that happen every day on marketplaces like G2A, GAMIVO, Eneba etc.

This is potentially problematic for both users (who will be spammed with small price changes) and us (resources needed to send out this many e-mails).

We will definitely include keyshops in notifications, but first, we need to redesign the way Alerts work on GG.deals

Could you add in that for an alert to be sent, it has to have a "historical low" of .05 or better? I don't know if that would work well, it was just a thought.

remike Indeed, I was one that always wanted keyshop prices to be integrated in the features of the site, so when GGdeals finally added keyshop comparison price in the last months I was very happy, it made all the difference in the search!

But I kinda agree with remike after having thought a little about this feature. The variations on keyshops are insane. Just imagine when a game pops up on humble bundle monthly or a new fanatical bundle. The keyshops swirl with price variations. I suppose there should be a way to circumvent this particular scenario (for instance, small drops or variations in cents shouldnt be considered in keyshop price changes, unless its something like 0,50 cents or another variable, dont know).

Anyway, despite the difficulties regarding the implementation of this feature, I still upvoted it because It's definitively one of the things i'm looking forward in ggdeals!

remike If people continue to let alerts spam them instead of buying it once it hits their target price then that's on them. I don't mind a bit of spam knowing I can finally buy the game and the alerts will soon stop

remike can you make it available just for "historical low" or "below this price" settings? This will solve the spamming.
It's a really needed feature.

Whilst users should have the option to disable keyshops. If enabled, the functionality on the site should be the same for keyshops as official stores.

McGeezle That's not really fair. Not all of us have the money to buy a game immediately even below our target price. We might have the alerts on and intend on buying it once payday comes, but we can't all snatch it up immediately unless it's a really good deal. That doesn't mean we should be forced to be spammed with dozens of emails everyday.

Some have it set to "new historical low" though if that's only a couple cents lower than the current one that hardly makes it worth it to buy. Others have to set to the new lowest price which also isn't necessarily as low as the person hopes. We're not just talking about a few alerts a day here. We're talking dozens or hundreds because of how much prices can fluctuate slightly.

Even if you want to put that on the user, that doesn't mean that the costs to send all those emails wouldn't still be high. It strains servers and can be expensive. especially if lots of folks have "new lowest deal" on which is the default. I got 6 emails today because I accidentally had that on. Lord help me if it was with keyshops. Multiple that by 100k people and I wouldn't be surprised if the servers could be overloaded to the point of crashing.

I'd much prefer to wait for a better way to integrate this so it works more like official stores than regret choosing that option cause I'm getting spammed with a dozen emails everyday cause the price dropped by one cent.

Just registered on the website and am really disappointed not to find the feature. It was the key reason for me to switch from isthereanydeal.com ...

I do hope keyshop alerts will be added very soon!

BlackSadoMario It's difficult to make a price alert from keyshops. the same day the key can change more than 1€, not like official stores, you know what i mean?

Another +1 for me, since I made the other post and was referred here.

I think something like a daily or weekly update on keyshop prices would be fine, this way it's not constantly stressing the servers nor constantly emailing users with updates.

I really don't understand this "alert spam" issue. Like I've said before, it's the user's fault if they don't buy a game once it hits their target price so they can't complain about spam. Pretty good problem to have. Plus the alerts could be grouped together if the price change is within a certain time frame.

How is that a worse problem to have than no keyshop alerts at all? You can just turn off keyshop alerts so you still have the option of having it work just like it does now.

What's annoying is constantly having to check your wishlist instead of being able to set alerts and forget about it (the whole point of the website).

I’d suggest to implement a variation threshold so that user can configure how much the price has to move to be eligable for notifications. If this sounds too heavy from backend perspective, there can be global thresholds set at 10% or 20% increments. That way user would set their preferred threshold and ‘subscribe’ to notification list.
