I'd like to revive this idea. If you start a community server you can post announcements like freebies in a special channel, which can be subscribed to. This way announcements automatically get posted on other servers, spreading awareness not only for freebies, but for gg.deals itself. Even if you're not interested in actively maintaining a Discord community right now, a simple server with announcement channels would be a good solution in my opinion.
