Epic game store vs steam

Now with game awards show showing that game developers will release some games on Epic game store rather than steam. What do you guys think can Epic game store give better alternative to steam. Personally I would like all my games in one platform and already the client places is getting crowded with likes of origin,uplay,gog(which I likel,discord,battle net etc.,

Well if they don't want the majority of people buying (or even finding out about) their games, it's their choice. :-)

diversity and competition is always healthy, but exclusivity is pure cancer.

I'm not sure if they're capable of beating Steam, but IMO they're the biggest challenger to date. Even Microsoft and EA are not as big of a threat as Epic Games. There are 2x more ppl plating Fortnite, that users on Steam. They have money, they have 88%/12% split and they already have exclusives. Gaben needs to wake the f up and change things.

I must say their regional pricing, at least for PL, is very tempting.
Hades 19,99 EUR -> 49,00 PLN (on steam it would be 71,99 by default)
Hello Neighbor Hide and Seek 29,99 EUR -> 79,00 PLN (107,99 per steam default conversion)
So the difference is significant, but I'll wait to see how deep the discounts go, I buy most of the games at -80₉₀% anyway. ;-)

Now if epic store generated keys that the devs could put into bundles, things would become really interesting.

Yup if they started using epic store keys in bundle they can really launch a staunch attack on steam monopoly but as they said regional pricing is what makes most of us use steam so unless anything is done on that then no not going to use epic store much

They need to do a better job, because at this moment the store and launcher feels really... useless. I can't leave the message to my friend if he is offline. There is no search option, there are no categories for games, no info about game modes and such. I highly doubt they will win a larger group of players only by only giving away games. I mean, sure, we all will grab these freebies, but so we did on Uplay/Origin and it doesn't look like both are some kind of challenger to Steam.

I don't think so, because Steam is way ahead of all it's opponents, and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon.

I don't really like EPIC couse they were creating Fortnite to be like Tower Defense (Zombies), after PUBG they changed it to battle royale and now they think that they can do whatever they want

KarpiuOPP they once said that pc going are not good due to piracy but their past comments are really not great regarding pc atmosphere

Steam is so much more than just a game store. For now Epic doesn't have even half of the functionalities that they do, so we will have to wait at least couple of years, maybe then Epic store can catch up. Same thing was with Discord, when some very optimistic people said that they can dethrone Steam, but right now they are not even close. Sure, Fortnite maybe has a lot of players, but the question is if they are even interested in buying other games. I don't have statistics, but from what I can see Fortnite is the only game for many people and it will take a lot from Epic to convince them to buy and play other games.

I don't see any store beating steam for a while. This is due to steam being such an old site/ launcher for buying games and it has based it foundry for games long ago. It would be hard for epic games to catch-up to the massive steam library of games.

Steam is hard to apart with cause all that years i get used to it. But competition is always good for customers 🙂

no regional price is big factor i purchase games on steam, even i get good deals on humble or gog.com.
