Hmmm, maybe to gain some space You could make just one arrow instead of the two up and down arrows, that would show the current selection and highlight the used sorting. With Metacritic u can make switchable Critic/User/Average mini buttons below to save space or make something like what is in the picture (sorry for my poor paint skills, don't have any graphic program right now, don't laugh :p)
