Do you still play old games?

With so many new AAA games, with so many independent developers, with so many great online titles, I wonder - is there any "free" time to play good, old games? Do you ever go back to the titles from many years ago to play it one more time, or just move along, because with so many games there is no time to look back even for a little while? What about old games that you never had a chance to play?

So, in short, let's talk about old games 🙂 What are you playing, or maybe why aren't you playing any old games. From more serious discussions about old gaming to chit-chat about some old games!

Back to play again? No (for single player), there's too many games I still haven't tried. But I'll happily try some games I never had a chance to play.

Last few years I finished some oldies like Jedi Outcast, Metroid Zero Mission, Super Metroid, Super Mario 2... I like good games, it doesn't matter if it came out in 1998 or 2018 🙂

I also have no problem at all with older graphics. 2D titles often age well, 3D... not so much, but I like that old style. Nowadays people can complain about a new game looking "like a 3 year older one". I look at it and I think what's wrong? 😛 Most guys needs their "photorealistic" stuff. I look at Jedi Outcast and I actually like what I see. Sorry 😃

When I'm on some uninteresting lectures the good old laptop is with me and ready, steady to go HoMM3 and Duke Nukem 3D. Both of them stuck on my heart and I'm still coming back to their magic place of amazing gameplay after so many years 🙂

Oh god. When i want play old games, i'm always play Heroes 3, Disciples 2, Knights and Merchants and Warcraft 3. Maybe I didn't on Atari, Nintendo or Pegasus (;P), but in PC i play a lot of games.

From time to time I like to play some of the older games that I've played years ago, mainly just for nostalgic reasons. Heroes III, Colin McRae 2.0, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 etc. Sometimes the need to play these games is just too strong, even when you have so many new releases. Other than that I also try to play classics that I never had a chance to check out before. For example, lately I finished Half-Life and Fallout 2.

Sure, some titles like already mentioned HOMM 3 are so addictive that from time to time you have to play it. Problem is, when your "old favourite" is a multiplayer title, and if it wasn't very popular it's highly possible that you will never again experience this game fully. Everyone knows that playing versus bots can't give as many fun as interacting with other people.

I really want to but even if I tried to play in eg. Icewind Dale, some of these archaic mechanics, old graphics and sometimes partial compatibility with new OS causes that I do not want to play it even if history is good. Some of them like one of my childhood games "Croc" aren't available to buy anywhere (even on GoG) so I'd prefer newest version of good genres (like Commandos or Desperados and newer version of these: "Shadow Tactics" or "Desperados 3")

Awiaton It's better not to try Croc anymore 😛 I still have it on the CD. The graphics are actually still not bad, but the controls... I hate when you can only turn around and run straight. Like in Kao the Kangaroo. Thankfully, in both cases, it changed in Kao/Croc 2 😛

I keep playing old games, most often it is Might and Magic Heroes 3 and 4, Stronghold Crusader, Tomb Raider and The Sims 2.

I just started replaying Super Mario Bros and I feel like I'm 6 again xD

I LOVE old games, but... what games are considered old in the first place? Is Witcher 3 old already? ;P

Yeah, there are so many games that it's getting harder and harder to get back and play some oldies. Last year I completed all Stalker games, this year Borderlands is in the menu and next year will probably bring back Forgotten Realms - BG, ID, NN and maybe Planescape Torment.

At least once a month I play in Heroes of Might and Magic III. I will never get bored with it

Like many above, Heroes 3 from time to time, something from Legacy of Kain (I have SR2 installed right now). Today I've started up Atari emulator 😃
Also, a lot depends on what do you mean by saying OLD. I've started playing Assassin's Creed titles last year ... I mean from the very first title, which was 10 year old already.
Or again, last year I've started playing Hitman™ (form 2016, as of now, still last tile, only for 3 more days 🙂 ). That was the very first Hitman for me. After that I've played Absolution (2nd to last game) then I;ve tried moving to the very first - Codename 47. Yes, I've completed 3 or 4 missions, but after I've closed the game, I couldn't force myself to return ... it waits on my drive 😛
So yes, I am playing old games most of the time depending on the definition of "old" one would use.

Sometimes I want to return to good old games, but mostly I play a few hours and game goes to trash can later. Somtimes i finished it, somtimes not. For example Medal of Honor AA.

I missed lots of releases between late nineties and early tens, so I try to play some classics every now and then, mostly adventures thanks to gog + scummvm. Lots of early 3D games came out in that period, but they aged horribly. I also like going back to a few solid classics from Amiga through UAE, like Cannon Fodder, Slam Tilt or SWOS. :-)

Yes, I play "old" PS3 games I never play before and real old PC (mostly adventure) gems like The Secret of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones series.
