What kind of trends in modern gaming you don't like? I don't like microtransactions, dlc, battle royale games, early access.

Add to this list thousands of map markers with activities that no one asked for, side quests made procedurally and of low quality, and every game has to be sandbox with thosands of worthless quests, timewasters.

Replacing good solid single player mode with shitty multiplayer that will be dead in a year just for next part of the game or making mmo version of games that were great with robust and rich single player story.

I don't like Minecraft trend (especially in children), MOBA trend, Assets flip/Achiewment hunter games and Early access games 😉

Microtransactions are terrible, but I think that even worse is making is forcing players to use multiplayer features. After a while there's nobody to play with. Single player games with great stories are now rare, especially when we are talking about AAA titles.

Adding everywhere microtransactions and shitty dlc is most frustrating trend in modern gaming - I want to get full game - occasionaly will want to pay for EXPANSION, not dlc like horse armor (Yup, Oblivion was first game with this I guess). Second one is convince gamers that we don't want singleplayer games, it's already dead and now multiplayer games is the future - I don't f** think so, I don't think I want every time go anywhere in game with some random toxic kiddos who are constantly scream on microphone or just ruining other players' fun in the game - I'd really prefer great singleplayer story than any multiplayer mode and if I had to choose - I would definitely choose singleplayer games

Buying and playing games that represents no value...... I don't get that.. there are games with rich stories, amazing gameplay mechanics, beautiful graphics..... yet people play "troll" games for thousands of achievements.......

Microtransactions? DLC? True. But that's too easy. Trying to come up with something...

I don't like Season Passes being announced early - you often have no idea what will be there, even the procuders may not know, but you can buy it even before the game release. I honestly don't like it more than early access.

Microtransactions, definitely. DLCs are not that bad, unless they are cut from the original game and then sold separately - I find it disgusting. We shouldn't support developers doing things like that, just... don't buy their games.

bGedoro Yeah, I think most of us can agree that DLC and microtransactions are bad, even by looking at the replies. Especially the ones that were cut blatantly from game. But this will keep happening, because many people don't mind them, that's why developers keep adding them. It doesn't matter that you and me won't buy them, as long as thousands of other people will.

Splitting playerbase with DLC maps, most of the times these maps are dead week after release because people don't want to wait ages to get into the game and instead of new maps they are playing old ones.

1000+ achievements on Steam that are earned in 5 minutes only by starting the game.

pikikd I'm gonna be a devil's advocate here and say that DLC are not that bad, the problem is greed behind them. There are some really nice DLC worth their price. Borderlands, Dishonored, Fallout, Darkest Dungeon and many others got nice DLC, sure there are bad DLC like cut content fror Deus Ex but overall I would not cross them out. We all would prefer big robust add-ons but they take time and money and company must earn those sweet sweet dollars🙂. Shame that nobody anymore works on some big add-ons and between them makes 2 or 3 small DLC.

DLCs, rather the way this addon-system is used now in most cases.
Microtransactions ... wait, those not always are MICRO.

I forget add something. The worst trend is doing old games to mobile version or browser version for example: Dungeon Keeper, Diablo Immortal 😉, Age of Empires and Settlers.

The trend where modern gamers think it's hip to be reactionary. Yes YouTube, I play video games. No YouTube, that doesn't mean I'm some kind of neo-fascist who's angry that a woman might be the hero in a Star Wars film.
